MSB Policies Attendance- Dance is a structured discipline that requires regular attendance. This responsibility is up to the individual. Students should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before their scheduled class and depart promptly afterwards. Parents of students 10 years old and younger are required to come to the front doors of the studio to pick up their child.
Hair- Hair needs to be off of the neck and face, in a bun with hairpins and a hairnet; flowers and ribbons optional. Any hair longer than eye-level must be clipped back and off of the face.
Attire - All dancers must be neat in appearance and adhere to the dress code described with each class description. Absolutely no gum chewing or jewelry may be worn. No food should be brought into the studio. All students should wear a cover up to and from the studio. Ballet slippers should never be worn outside. Tights and ballet slippers may be pink or skin-colored. If you are in doubt that particular dance wear is permissible, ask first before purchasing.

Inclement Weather In the event of a school cancellation due to inclement weather, we do not automatically follow the Fairfax County School System's closing schedule. If we decide to cancel, notification will be given either on this website, on our Instagram and Facebook pages, and by email at least one hour prior to the start of class times.
Make-Up Classes If we cancel a class for any reason, make-up classes will generally be offered within two weeks of the cancellation. If the student cannot attend their regularly scheduled class, they may contact Hannah on an individual basis to attend another class. Students will be allowed two make-up classes per semester. The best time to schedule a make-up lesson is when we are not preparing for performances.
Private Lessons Private lessons are offered on an individual basis. For students interested in receiving one-on-one instruction, please contact Hannah via email.
Performances A nominal fee is due before each performance to help with production costs. Parents of dancers contribute their time and talent towards the large-scale benefit production of The Nutcracker. Two adult tickets are given to each family for the Nutcracker and the Spring recital. Costume information for the spring show is given out in January. These costumes are purchased by each family for their dancer(s). Dancers may keep the Spring costumes after the show.
Annual Registration $25 per family. Dance is a discipline that takes time, dedication, and practice to master. In addition, performances are built upon the commitment of individual dancers. The individual has the ability to impact the group as a whole. For returning students a full school year commitment is expected at time of registration. All students must complete registration before participating in a class.
MSB will hold open "new student" registration in December for the Spring semester. New students must contact Hannah to discuss class placement.
For families who have already registered online, please visit the Parent Portal for class updates, to make a payment, or to change enrollment information. Trial Class Unsure if your child will want to join for one month or commit to the year? Please make prior arrangements with the Director to observe a class or take a single trial class!
