Attendance- Dance is a structured discipline that requires regular attendance. This responsibility is up to the individual. Students should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their scheduled class and depart promptly afterwards. Parents of students 8 years old and younger are required to come into the studio to pick up their child.
Attire - If students are dressed properly, they will look, feel, and act like dancers. All dancers must be neat in appearance and adhere to the dress code.
Hair- Long hair needs to be off of the neck and face, ideally in a bun with hairpins and a hairnet; flowers and ribbons optional. Any hair longer than eye-level must be clipped back and off of the face.
All students should wear a cover up to and from the studio. Ballet slippers should never be worn outside. If you are in doubt that particular dance wear is permissible, ask first before purchasing.
Inclement Weather
In the event of a school cancellation due to inclement weather, we do not automatically follow the Fairfax County School System's closing schedule. If we decide to cancel, notification will be given either on this website or by email at least one hour prior to the start of class times OR listen to the message on the phone at 703-830-6548.
Make-Up Classes
If we cancel a class for any reason, make-up classes will generally be offered within two weeks of the cancellation. If the student cannot attend their regularly scheduled class, they may contact Mia on an individual basis to attend another class. Students will be allowed two make-up classes per semester. The best time to schedule a make-up lesson is during September-October and January-February when we are not preparing for performances. Additionally, there are generally three working rehearsals held during the year that may also substitute for make-up lessons.
Class Observation
For the privacy of all students, parents are asked to make prior arrangements with the instructor for class observation. Parent Observation Week is held in February.
Registration

Students new to Mia Saunders Ballet will be given a one-time only option of a trial class or a trial month on which to base their enrollment decision.
